Splits

Hellooooo zeeba neighba!!

It is quite the sauna out and indoors in Budapest, and also here in the 2nd floor of this internet cafe.  Air conditioning is a "luxus" item here in Hungary, so sleeping is pretty much like taking a shower?  We had a TON of appointments scheduled for this week, though a lot of them ended up canceling or not showing up.  We called a good amount of potential investigators from the Area Book (the area book gutting and putting back together is almost complete). We did find two new investigators through it. One, Zoltán, is from a town called Gyöngyös, but is up in Pest about 3 times a week.  He is about 70, and loves to learn about religions, though is having a bit of a hard time internalizing what all of this stuff actually means to him personally.  When we invited him to pray to know if the book of Mormon is true, he said, "I don't really do religion this way".  Hes really interested in the history of the Jewish people.  Another new investigator is named Szabó Tamás (Thomas Tailor), we had a great lesson with a new convert, Niki, and talked a lot about baptism with him and of course the Restoration of the gospel.  Streeting is fun and we usually do it on the way to appointments and tracting. We always get interesting responses when we introduce ourselves.  "I read the Wikipedia article!" said a woman when I asked the question "have you ever heard of the Mormons?".  facepalm.  This is one of the reasons I like using the full name of the Church in our approach, because "the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" can really inform people a lot more from the get.-go about what we believe in and such.

Last pday we went to a castle with Luca, unfortunately it was closed but we walked the grounds.  On Sunday we listened to the most rousing talk by our bishop, Westsik püspök, about the Christian love we have to have for each other and the dedication we have to have to qualify for a temple here in Hungary.  When a temple does come one of these days, the members will have to be prepared to dedicate a lot of time to working in the temple, maintaining it, and learning other languages of the countries surrounding Hungary, because most likely the Saints in Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, and Czech Republic will travel here to worship in temples.

Today were heading to another castle with the sisters. Will send pictures next week! Have a great week and read the Book of Mormon EVERY DAY.

Love,

Adam

I love getting interesting texts in english from members!

Splits with elder thompsen (one of the other elders in our district).  This was right after a let-in we had with a baptist woman and husband who gave us two huge glasses of coke after we turned down their wine.  She didnt accept a book of mormon but did accept a restoration pamphlet.

Splits with Zone Leader Aardema elder!! He is pretty much your average comic con goer who is so fun to bond over star trek next generation with and he is a powerful missionary!

Orosz Árpád - one of my favorite members here in Kispest.  He lectures in English about business at Budapest Business University, and is fluent in English, Russian, and Swedish, and has the most beautiful british accent mixed with a little bit of Frankenstein.  I always go to him with all of my language, vocab. questions, and he always gives the most businessy examples of how to use the words. I ask, "arpad, what does végül mean?" he said, "it means, "finally" as in "finally, the corporate executive got his office in good repair again after it had been inundated by a burst pipe" quite the examples!

Orsi - she is the only active member in her family, but still went to the Freiburg temple with the ward to do baptisms for the dead.  She is an awesome example of faith and a positive attitude.
