Miracle Week
guys. miracles exist!
so this past week we had splits with the elders from Győr (I was with elder huber from my group). We did a ton of Book of Mormon 21 Day Challenge finding with the big roll up in Széll Kálmán square. We had really cool interactions with people. I seriously feel like I could just do street contacting all day every day. It's so fun and you meet with so many different types of people. The best is that you get to see how God is working in everyone's life.
The highlight of the week was Saturday, a day which Elder Spencer and I feel is our real missionary day (a.k.a. no agenda's to make in the office). We went to an older man's who we teach. He is really looking for the truth. He knows the Bible SUPER well (like I'm pretty sure if you ask him any verse reference he can quote it). We didn't think he was going to progress much because he essentially wanted to teach us about how he interprets the Bible, but we gave him a few weeks to read from the Book of Mormon and pray about it and he did! He said that he believes that the priesthood power was restored through Joseph Smith and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. One of his legs hurts him when he walks (though he is still very mobile) and we're going to organize someone to take him to church next week. We're really excited for him!
Then we went to teach our miracle family. They are trying to get off smoking, so we started the 7-day recovery program with them. They accepted a baptismal date for November 10th! They already put their papers in for marriage (in Romania, because they are self identified Hungarians from Romania - that's like a big thing in this part of the world, Hungarians are scattered in Szlovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, and a few in Austria). They are excited to start the program and they came to church too and they are doing so well! We're going to be throwing a small wedding for them at the meetinghouse at the end of october so that's exciting.
Then we went to another lesson with a newer man that we're teaching. He believes in God, just has a hard time understanding or developing faith in Jesus Christ. We taught him about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and both Elder Spencer and I felt the Spirit super strongly. It was one of those lessons where you kind of wonder "what just happened?" and you know that the Lord had been working through you to deliver His message to His children. I came across the following verses last night when I was studying the New Testament that summed it all up.
Matthew 10:19-20 - "But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you."
Have an awesome week! Take time for Jesus, it pays off.
Sok szeretettel,
Martin elder
