Miracles

Sziasztooooook,

Well this past week was... a little bit up and down!  First of all, it was a tad bit weird to be here whilst mine eldest sister wed.  No worries, we have Star Trek: the Next Generation "Inner Light" episode theme song on our phone, and I only listened to it once before I realized that I have to change the song to Mormon Tabernacle Choir to focus more on mission. Ahh!  Nevertheless, I am so overjoyed for Jackie and her decision to get sealed in the temple.  That's the end goal!  That's what we're leading people to as missionaries: the temple, and the covenants we make with God inside of it.  I miss the temple a lot, but I'm happy to be doing missionary work for the living among the Hungarians.

Last P-Day we went to the Gödöllő castle which was one of the Hapsburgs favorite summer vacation homes!  It was filled with paintings and furniture from the old days, unfortunately they did not allow me to take pictures of the inside, but the outside is pretty great as well.  We ended up running to the eastern train station with the Sisters after we finished emailing so we wouldn't miss our train.  It was so strange traveling in the countryside in summer.  It really looks a lot like the Ozarks here! The weather is about as sticky too.  We had a pretty standard week until Friday, when we had 4 appointments set up with 4 new investigators that we had either found through area book or media referrals.  The first was a family of a mom and daughter that we had met through tracting, though when we went back they weren't home.  The second was a man was an area book lookup, though he ended up not showing up at the branch house where we were supposed to meet him.  The third was a return appointment from tracting, but he ended up vacationing in the western part on Hungary for a week, and the last was  a self referral from mormon.org, and he really wanted to meet with us, though we just ended up walking for 2 HOURS to find his house, without success. Seriously, his address does not exist.  We were a bit bummed by the end of the day.  The next day, however, we returned to another family that said that we could come back when we talked to them while we were tracting, and they let us in and Dad, Mom, and Grandma all became new investigators!  Mom, Anita, was having problems with her spine and we were able to give her a blessing.  She and Dad actually live in Canada, and will soon be returning, but the spirit was SO strong in the lesson, and yesterday when we went back and talked to Grandma Zsuszi, she said that she felt so much joy and the Holy Ghost in her heart for the rest of the day and for a few days after that. Later that night, we were tracting with Luca, and the last house that we knocked on was a man who ended up pulling up in his car right as we were ringing his bell, and then pulled in to his garden, and immediately let us in.  He ended up becoming a new investigator and has a lot of potential.  So the day right after the we had 4 new appointments planned but all didn't succeed, the Lord blessed us with 4 new other investigators!  It was a miracle to see.  Obviously, even if we didn't have success the following day, we would still trust in the Lord's timing and the promptings of the Spirit, but He is kind and leads us to those that receive us.  On Sunday, Szirmai Laszlo (question guy) came to church!  He hasn't been in a long time, but he promised he would come and did.  He's awesome.

Yesterday was one of the best Zone Conferences in Buda that I've ever had.  We talked about the necessity of having the spirit with us at ALL times, not just putting it on when we're going to teachings like an old sweater.  A departing missionary, Sister Dyson, gave her testimony and told us about a motto she has. Take up space.  She got it from the suffragette movement, and she has been using it as her way that we as a relatively small missionary force, can fill the world with our presence.  Whether we're on the street, at the door, or interacting however with people. TAKE UP SPACE.  MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD. STAND UP FOR WHATS RIGHT.

Love aou all, have an awesome week,

elder Martin
